About
I'm Rahim.
I started on the front line helping customers. I lead leaders now. Life on Runs is the playbook I wish I'd had.
My story
I've led teams since 2005. First on a call-centre project, then running retail stores and leading 16 to 18 people. Results in retail are obvious: the sales are on the screen.
Then I changed careers and started again at the bottom of a large organisation, helping customers on the front line. New rules, and nobody knew what I'd done before. I wasn't a genius on day one. I asked a lot of questions, and my team was generous with their time.
I helped colleagues with technical problems, and my team leader noticed more than that. She saw the leadership: standing up for team meetings and daily huddles, and the way I coached people. She had the conversation with me about what was next, and I moved into leading a team. Today I lead team leaders.
Colleagues, staff and other leaders ask me for career and coaching advice all the time: which jobs to apply for, how to hold a coaching conversation, how to build the case for the next step. Life on Runs puts those answers in one place, for anyone, anywhere.
Why now?
I'm not a salesperson, and I never thought of myself as a business person. I'm a customer-service person. My whole career has been about helping people. For years I did that one conversation at a time: supporting new starters, helping senior colleagues with technical problems, coaching people on their next step. A channel lets me do the same thing for far more people. So I started.
What I believe
- Service. Good leadership starts with the person in front of you.
- Honesty. Say the real thing, kindly.
- Fairness. Make the decision easy to justify.
- Accountability. Own the result, and write it down.
How this is made
I write every script and narrate with an AI clone of my own voice. The visuals are AI-assisted. Sam, the character in the series, is fictional. The lessons are real. More on how I use AI.
Views are my own and not those of any employer.
